This jersey is special. It was raced in by one of the stars of the Panasonic team, Eric Vanderaerden. It’s one of two Panasonic jerseys we are offering for sale that belonged to the Belgian classics star. Vanderareden won all three of the biggest cobbled classics; Ghent Wevelgem and the Tour of Flanders in 1985, and Paris-Roubaix in 1987. He also won the Tour de France green jersey in 1986, and five Tour stages between 1983 and 1985. He won three stages in the Vuelta a España, too.

Panasonic took over as lead sponsor from Raleigh when the British company wanted to reduce its involvement in sponsoring at the end of 1983. Before that the TI-Raleigh team, which was created in his own hard-man image by the former racer Peter Post, was arguably the best of its era.
