Retro-style Flandria jersey
This long-sleeved jersey from the Italian manufacturer Campitello is a nod to the Flandria teams of old, a Belgian squad of brilliant classics riders known as the Rode Duivels (Red Devils) Flandria is a bike brand with plenty of history. It was owned by the Claeys family and run by two brothers, Aime and Remi Claeys until they fell out and split the company’s assets by dividing their factory in half. Remi set up rival brand Superia, while Flandria continued making its wide range of bikes. Its best race models were painted bright red.
Aime Claeys loved bike racing, so in 1959 Flandria co-sponsor the Dr Mann, which was built around a West Flanders rider who Aime admired, Leon Van Daele. The team won 44 races, with Van Daele taking eight victories, including Ghent-Wevelgem. The following year a West Flanders legend, the double world champion Briek Schotte, became team manager. In 1962 the Flandria team won 101 races and the UCI team World Cup.
